General FAQ

What is the timeline for getting my Casita installed if I'm in an approved state?

Each project is different in terms of scope and complexity. Following your site survey, and completion of necessary tests, you will receive a final estimate for your specific project. The timing for installation varies depending on your ordered configuration, and the state where you intend to install your Casita. On average, most Park Model RV projects can be completed in 1-3 months, and Modular projects can take 4-6 months for installation. These timelines vary, and your dealer will be the best resource on your overall timeline.

In the current Casita design, the stove and all appliances are electric. There is no option for gas at this point.

At this time, details of an unfurnished Casita, or empty box Casita, have not yet been established, however we do plan to have one in the future. We will provide an update once plans and pricing are available. Please stay tuned on our social media platforms and website for the most updated information.

The Casita cannot connect side by side or be stackable. However, the feasibility of stacking units depends on the specific property in question and would require an assessment by a third-party structural engineer.

At present, we are exclusively producing our studio-style Casita, which measures 19ft x 19ft (361 sq. ft.) which comes equipped with a kitchen that features energy-efficient appliances, as well as a bathroom. While we do not currently offer larger sizes or alternative floor plans, our plan is to expand our product offerings in the future. After your Casita is installed, you are able to explore various customization options similar to how you would remodel a house. We recommend working with a contractor to explore the viability and cost of any customizations you’re considering.

In the current design, the interior walls are made up of a material called MGO (Magnesium Oxide) which is similar to drywall and sheetrock. Its properties make it fire, mold, water, and insect resistant.

The Casita has a flat roof that has a TPO (Thermoplastic Polyolefin) membrane that is added to the roof during installation. This membrane is watertight, insulated, and snow load rated. Some areas will require a pitched roof, in that case, you will need to add a roof solution on-site with your contractor. In the future, we are exploring a pitched roof system that can be purchased directly through BOXABL as an addition to the standard Casita.

Currently, the standard flat roof is rated at 31lbs per sq. ft. of snow. Depending on your climate zone, a pitched roof may be required to accommodate additional snow load and local code requirements. In that case, you will need to add a roof solution on-site with your contractor. In the future, we are exploring a pitched roof system that can be purchased directly through BOXABL as an addition to the standard Casita.

The MSRP of the Modular Casita configuration is currently $60,000 and the Park Model RV at $70,000. This pricing does not include any of the additional costs that are associated with a full project. Following your site plan and site survey, the dealer will be able to provide you with a final pricing estimate for your project.

In addition to the cost of the Casita itself, most average projects include the following items:

  • Site Survey
  • Soils Report, Geotechnical, and Percolation Tests (Local Requirements Vary)
  • Site Plan & Engineering
  • Permitting
  • Utilities (Water, Sewer, Electricity, Internet)
  • Foundation
  • Roofing
  • Shipping
  • Crane Rental
  • Installation

In addition to normal items, various factors below can lead to higher project costs:

  • Septic System Installation

  • Deep Trenching For Utilities
  • Project in a Flood Zone, High Wind Zone, or Special Soils
  • Custom Engineering

We have a list of preferred lenders that are familiar with the BOXABL Casita and have lending products that can be tailored to meet your specific requirements.

At this point, a licensed, bonded, and insured transportation company is required to transport the Casita. If you own/operate a qualified transportation company, we will discuss the possibility on a one-to-one basis at the time your order is ready to ship.
